One of the few good things about November are cachi (kah•kee) or persimmons. Papà picked them all a few weeks ago, before it got too cold and they fell off the tree. The cachi have been ripening in the garage. I took home a plateful and today they looked irresistably juicy and sketchable. Yes…. a few of my models didn’t make the photo shoot-I couldn’t resist!
Looks great!

Grazie Charlene! Maybe i’ll turn it into a ‘real’ painting. This is just a quick sketch on paper. Hope you are enjoying Firenze!
My mouth waters…. Your dad grows them? Wish my dad had known they would grow on the coast. He didn’t realize persimmons could be grown there. He tried kiwi’s…without much success. Lovely painting too.
Grazie Anna-Maria! So nice to hear from you! He has 2 tall skinny trees in the front. It took a long time for them to produce fruit but now we get tons of cachi, although about half of them fall to the ground as there is a narrow ‘picking window’. Then they tend to all ripen in a short time period so it’s a cachi fest! I’m sure if your Dad was still across the street he would have gotten a cutting to plant! He had 2 kiwi as well (you need a male and female tree) but they froze a few years ago. Ciao, Cristina
ymmm!! I can taste them now .. !!
Susanne you just missed them. They were picked the day after you left!
